Grisaille oil painting process
These are the first painting stages for me when I create an oil painting from still life setups.
It's called a "grisaille" which means that I paint a version of the final work in a single color in order to work out the value range for the painting before color goes on.
This is the first pass of many paint layers that make up the final work.
