painting low

Not sure what to do with this painting, so for now, I'm leaving it as is. Maybe come back to it another day to see what else happens. It feels incomplete, but also kind of goes with the theme that way...we'll see.

  1. Love the work you are doing lately. This one makes me think of either sitting in the rain or, my first thought, sitting in a sauna.

  2. Yeah, I really like the soft feel of some of your recent work, even if it is considered incomplete or unfinished.

  5. Ester, I found him on the http://www.artskills.net/ blog. Back on page 4.

One of several french art/design blogs I enjoy... even if a lot of the design stuff just seems to regurgetate itself.

    enjoy.

  6. thanks Nancy and Steve! this soft touch is not really new, but also something that I'm usually covering up with detail. I appreciate your thoughts!

I agree that the "incompleteness" works well with the image. I'm not sure if this is what you're going for, and certainly it may be a reflection on my mood, but what I see is detached or obscured sadness... that sort of sadness that once it sinks in, you lose your sense of physical self.

...or, it could just be an incomplete painting. It's lovely, regardless.

  8. I love your take on it Jade! It's not too far from my own feelings for the mood of this piece. It's a tricky thing for me, to be able to maintain the feeling that I want to convey, at the same time as getting technical with the way paint squishing on a brush...there's a lot I still need to learn with it all.

  9. Incomplete? We were talking about coming to work on casual Friday, um... incomplete, like your picture.

You ever have one of those dreams, where you get to where you're going, take off your coat and voila! We forgot to put our pants on!!!

Maybe I'm making up for my personal history. My childhood home was very modest, and my wife had a child from a previous marriage, so I have always taken care to cover up conservatively.
