I'm sorry to have lost your previous comment toni,
I love drawing from live models any chance I can get, and I also reference photos for a wider variety of body types too. Inspiration comes from everywhere, from all senses, like sounds or smells even. Usually I sit down with a blank page and just start somewhere, with a vague idea in mind or even just a twinge of a feeling that I want to portray. If I draw from photos, my drawings will inevitably be quite different from the photo because I'll change a pose, or add something or edit, etc. I don't care so much for getting a photo "realness" because I guess that's what the photo's for, but I do like to depict a feeling that I get from a photo. For example, I drew this image looking at a photo, but changed the face of the girl some, closed her eyes, and simply didn't draw the parts I didn't find interesting, like the body or background. I just liked the expressive quality of the gesture.
beautiful image...very intimate...
ReplyDeleteI still admire your figure drawing.
ReplyDeleteMay I ask do you work from photos, live figures, or where do you find your inspiration?

You captured a feeling or mood very well here ester--a sort of conflict almost. Great work as always and happy halloween!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ester for your wonderful answer and taking time to do so.
